Alternative Energy Companies Facing Hard Times
Superprotonic Inc. alternative energy company is sure to make a revolution in the energy sector thanks to its fuel cells that can bring electricity into homes, offices and even automobiles. A couple of years ago, when alternative energy sector was showing much promise, investors gladly gave money to the company.
However in the times of economic recession people don’t care for the alternative energy, and therefore no new investments are being made. Superprotonic company is not getting any cash inflow that soon may lead to its collapse if nothing is done to prevent this. Company’s officials say that in order to stay in business they already had to downsize staff from 17 to 10. Very soon the company may have no one to fire, if no emergency measures are taken.
But Superprotonic is not the only company facing hard times as a consequence of the economic recession. In the past, when oil and gas prices were relatively high, a lot of energy companies started switching to more efficient and greener ways to generate electricity. Today, because of a significant reduction of the prices on traditional energy resources alternative ones become to expensive.
The only thing that’s left to do for green energy companies is to use all means to stay afloat until the end of the recession.
As late as a year ago industry analysts predicted huge success of solar and wind energy sectors, these predictions were particularly fuelled by the increasing gas prices. This price rise was a trigger to draw everybody’s attention to the alternative energy industry. After a radical drop in the price of natural gas as a result of the world economic crisis, the need for alternative energy dwindled.
