The place to start with your search should be your own energy budget.
What amount of electricity do you use now per month. This is usually easily found on your electric bill and is stated in KWH or kilowatt hours. In simple terms this is the number of watts (kilowatts) that you used and how many hours you used them.
Once you have this number you are ready to figure out how many panels you will need to replace your electric bill, as this is usually the single most important motivation for installing them.
Assume that we are using 200 watt panels and they will get 5 hours of sunlight per day, this works out to an even 1000 watts or 1 KWH. This is pretty close to our actual experience.
Next, assume that you will receive 20 days of good sunlight per month, that works out to an even 20 KWH per month.
